Looks great. Copper and black are meant to be together.

Good luck with the final painting and fitting the board in.

Thanks Toyoracer. I just had a thought about copper blocks and black fittings, but that's a big investment on a supposedly low-budget rebuild.

So while my wife took my son to help at a garage sale and my daughter was having a nap, I got a bit more done today.

Got the cage cut to length and painted. It's way easier with a jigsaw and 24TPI blade than using a dremel. A quick pass on my bench grinder and voila:

I got the plastic areas evened out that needed to be fixed, but made a boo-boo on the side panel. It needs another pass.

I hear my daughter waking up, more later if I get a chance.

Yes a jigsaw is the right tool for the job.

This does not have the look of "low budget" any more, so might as well go all in.

Got some more work in after supper.

I showed my 3 year old how to pop-rivet a case back together, he seemed suitably impressed.

I plan on using the HDD cage with a single drive in it, screwed to both sides of the drive cage to provide some stability. I also got the fans mounted on the rad, and tossed the fan grilles back on to see how they look.

Well, once I started putting stuff back together I just continued on to get a pretty good idea of how the finished product will look from the outside view. With the window re-mounted using black screws:

And the obligatory 3/4 shot, with the res temporarily mounted. This shot makes me want to tear down my TJ-07 tonight and start swapping parts, but I know better than to do that when I'm tired. Hopefully I can get some measurements tomorrow and decide if my Rampage IV Extreme is going to shoehorn in there.

I haven't decided on whether I'll leave the XSPC logo silver, or mask it out and paint it copper. I do have the silver on the Silverstone logos and nickel plated blocks so a touch of silver won't look too out of place, I think.

Enough for today, family day planned for tomorrow, so see you when I get the chance to do some more.

Looking good Sugar, though I will say orange is not my tastes at all, still shaping up to a nice build.

Were you able to mount the res/pump mont correctly or it is super tight? Mine is realy tight in my ft02 so its pretty loud because of the vibrations. Just a heads up.

It really isn't as orange as it looks in the photos, either because of my camera or my lack of photo skills. It's more of a burnt copper colour. It is very bright in the sunlight, but as the permanent home will be in my mancave it's more muted down here.

The res is just sitting in there with the toolless drive mount pins holding it in place for a photo. I didn't have too much trouble fitting it in, probably because my drive cage is cut off at the bottom and has a fair bit of flex now. It will be screwed into place when the time comes.

How's this coming along? Haven't seen an update in a while. I'm curious to see what color you go with for the coolant and sleeving. (You going to sleeve the cables?) Black or blue seem to be the likely options, but white could look slick if done right. Black sleeving and water hardware with white coolant would probably pop.

And the offer still stands for polarized lens photos.

It's been sitting on my floor for the last couple of weeks. I've been more focused on selling our place and buying a new one. I was ready to tear down my machine on Sunday, but family life intruded and I ran out of time. I have new tubing and some stop fittings for the rad sitting on my desk, waiting patiently.

I plan on putting my Silverstone Strider PSU in it, which already has all the cables sleeved black. Once I decide on coolant color, I will redo some accent color sleeving. As for coolant, I have considered both blue and white. TBH, it will depend on whether the R4E fits, which I hope to find out this weekend. If I have red mobo parts and RAM, I don't think blue will look good as a coolant color. If it doesn't fit, I might go off the map, sell my 3930k and R4E now that I'm not getting bigadv units and pull the 2600K from my wife's build along with a new mobo.
