I think we should just set up a still and make some 99.9% pure hootch. That way if it doesn't work, we can at least have a great party afterward with some slightly used but extremely chilled "White Lightning" lol.

Heheh......

-----

I'm not sure about the kerosene/mineral spirits......while it would eliminate the conduction as an issue , it would never work as a final coolant , it'll freeze.Even gasoline would....as far as paraffins go something like n-Hexane or n-Heptane would work , but then there's the whole compatibility issue.

I think for the moment , I'll make some anhydrous Isopropanol and check it out.

No board prep, simply dunk in?

I have a feeling it all goes down to the socket design, the pins being further apart from each other.

edit: and a whole lot less power, since the PSU molex is a 20-pin, and there is no secondary 12V 4-pin connector.

I see your not testing with the extended wire harness, could there be a voltage drop large enough that your 5v line is causing trouble?

did anyone get any measurements?

copper 14awg wire 5v @ 25amp and room temp is about 8% voltage drop.
and the 12v would only be about 3.5%

oh I was guessing the cable was about 3' ?

not sure it was standard wiring for the power... the 12v was i think... cant remember off hand. I suppose a guy could always underclock the cpu until its up and running. We'll find out soon enough Ross is gonna setup his moonshine factory and make pure iso.

Nope , no board prep....dropped it in ,added iso , turned it on.

The extension is 6 feet long...Voltages are fine according to bios , and well , it works fine through the long harness.......I installed windows using it.
