Default Usb 3 to Usb 2 front panel conversion
Has anyone attempted to degrade a USB3 front panel with a 20 pin connector back to a usb 2 supporting motherboard?

Heh... either everybody is reading the same threads, or there's something in the air..... :)

I just "downgraded" my 990FX Sabertooth, to a X58 Classified and it doesn't have the required motherboard header for the USB 3.0 front panel connections... If you find any kind of info, please get back to us, as so far the solution I've looked at involves USB 3.0 adapter cards with motherboard headers onboard, but unfortunately the cards which offer those headers all seem to be sold out. :(

Yeah I have the Silverstone SST-EC01+ card, works wonderfully and pretty fast:



As for converting, I would assume its feasible as only a portion of the pins should be for USB2 since USB3 is backwards compatible, but I've yet to see any adapters (though haven't really been looking).

Don't most USB3.0 capable cases come w/ a USB2.0 adapter? Everyone I've bought has.

The GT didn't, although, it's already got plenty of front panel USB 2.0 connections so the loss of the two 3.0 up top aren't a big deal.

Actually that adaptor allows a case with usb3.0 connector to connect to a motherboard's usb 2.0 header. That's what the OP is looking for, no?
