My System Specs

Default Level 10 GT - Water Cooling Build

Ok, here we go. My first build log.

Parts list:

This is my list of stuff that intend to install, and already have.
  1. AMD PhenomII 1100T X6
  2. Powercolor Radeon 7970
  3. 2 x 4GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3-1600MHz 7-8-8-24 1.5V
  4. Auzentech Prelude
  5. Intel X-25M 80GB SSD for OS
  6. 2 x 640GB WD Blacks for storage
  7. Silverstone Decathlon 750W PSU
  8. Enzotech Sapphire SCW-Rev.A full copper CPU block
  9. Full cover EK water block for the 7970
  10. XSPC RX120 Rad
  11. UV Red 1/2" ID tubing
  12. Various 1/2" compression fittings

I'm just waiting on an Asus Formula Crosshair V with EK water block that I've purchased here on HWC.

I still need to purchase a pump, res, and a 240 rad..... I think that's it.
Oh. I'm not 100% on the blue lighting. I'm interested to see how it will look when finished before I decide to change to a different color. I'm thinking I should get a UV cathode kit for the tubing regardless.
Eventually I'd like to sleeve the PSU as well, but we'll see if that actually happens or not. I may just go with sleeved extensions.

The Level 10 GT is Slik's "old" tower. I tore it apart and gave the metal grills a quick paint job using a spray bomb of Rust Check paint.
The color is International Red. It's meant for farm equipment. I thought "What the hell! We're in Canada!"
Seriously though, I used that paint because it doesn't require any sanding etc. Just clean the dust off and spray the paint on. I think it turned out ok.

So here's the current set up with an Asus M3A79T Deluxe mobo, OCZ Reaper HPC RAM, and an H100 cooler.
Any thoughts regarding the blue lighting?

Well, I received some goodies from two HWC members today.

The first pic shows a box from Lowfat. Hmmm, only 1g of fat for a 3/4 cup of Fruit Loops. That's pretty low.

My wife told me that the delivery guy looked at her funny when he handed her this box, and my youngest daughter (almost 3) thought it was really a box of Fruit Loops and wanted some.

Here's the best part! Sweet looking 7970 EK water block! It still has condensation in it from Lowfat's coolant.... freshly uninstalled.

The next four pics show hardware from Goldry. There are some paint chips on RX120 so I think I'm gonna toss a coat of red paint on the exterior of it (not the fins). It should good.

I decided to play with the macro setting on the camera and take some better pics. The Enzotech is marked up a bit but still looks pretty good.

Looking good man!

Are you building this for a quiet rig? Or OC'ing?

Thanks Prolab! I'm going for both quiet and OC'ing. I should be able to push the X6 a bit further, but most of all I want to stick a nice overclock to the 7970 and silence it.

The Crosshair V didn't show up today like I had hoped.

I made a small order at Dazmode though. Remember in the first post when I said "I still need to purchase a pump, res, and a 240 rad..... I think that's it." ?? Well that wasn't all I needed. haha

So my order consists of..
  1. EK-Reservoir Combo for DCP 4.0 Pump
  2. EK-DCP 4.0 High Performance Water Pump
  3. Slim High Density Dual 120mm Radiator XSPC EX240
  4. 6-Pin PCI-E DarkSide Single Braid Cable - Red
  5. 24-Pin ATX DarkSide Single Braid Cable - Red
  6. 8-Pin PCI-E DarkSide Single Braid Cable - Red
  7. 4+4 EPS DarkSide Single Braid Cable - Red
  8. UV Dual Cold Cathode Kit 12" (30cm) Rev.2

I know I'm "cheating" with sleeved extensions but with a full time job, 3 really young kids and the odd side job for friends, I don't think I'll really have the time to spend eons on sleeving my PSU. Hopefully this will turn out the way I'm envisioning it.

Heh... as much as I love shopping in daz's store, there is absolutely no such thing as a "Small order" when it comes to WC kit..... ;)

And, no, I wouldn't call that cheating... I know I don't have the patience to properly sleeve a PSU, so the pre sleeved extensions are a perfect solution.

Yeah I learned that really fast. haha

As for the sleeving the PSU, patience would be the other half of it for me too. One of these days I'd like to try it though. Maybe if I ever decide to get a new PSU I'll sleeve it. That way I can run what I have now untill I'm done and if it took me a few weeks (of cursing and throwing tools lol) it wouldn't matter.
