YES!!! High-value, affordable Swiftech components with a DDR3 Motherboard!!!

Seriously, VERY clean setup, I like it. Although keeping things that clean with all the cables plugged in would be a little trickier, I think. That should be great for a promotional platform.

low351: you wouldn't be the first one here, we have converted a few...

MpG: I still need to figure out what to do with the cables - and here's the last shot after having worked some more on the rig tonight. I still need to re-route the video card's 2 fans cable towards the back, and find a way to hide the PSU cables...

Do you think that spotcool is necessary? Or is it just for promotional purposes? I know you're a big fan of them on your Gigabyte boards, but I'd always heard that DDR3 tended to run cooler, and you're WC-ing the NB, which is cooling everything else second-hand via heatpipes. Just curious.

BTW, if you haven't reseated it already, Antec's X38's seem to have garnered a bit of a reputation for poorly-done TIM jobs.

I think you mean ASUS not Antec...

And I'll agree with that. My Maximus Formula TIM was like hardened glue. I scratched it all up removing the stupid garbage TIM. So now I have the task of lapping it some day, hopefully this week.

Yes, they are dual MCR120s - that's allI had. Cools great, 27C idle (ambiant 21C). I haven't played with the load temps yet.
What a mess Asus did with the TIM... The Fusion block was removed, and AS5 applied. NB/SB temps while idle: 27/28C.

Been testing all evening... this was stable:

I have tried every other combination that I know of, listened (meaning read, re-read) to 3oh6's wise words and reviews (Thanks again for all the help Jody!), but still 500 MHz FSB was not a reality.

I have to find a way to beat this board. Heck, I can't even run those Patriots at 1900MHz!

Time to back off. Back at it tomorrow night.

Well I did it. I managed to hit 500 FSB stable - even managed loading Vista at 525 FSB, but unstable and it required some wild volts.

But I'm stuck @ 800MHz for the ram speed, since the next step is 1000MHz. And I've tried many differents setups (up-to 9-9-9-24-60-2t @ 2.1V) and the Vipers won't take it. I can start, but can't get passed the loading screen. Some sites have managed 984Mhz (8-9-9-24-60-2t @ 2.04V) but not mine. Too bad since I wouldn't have any problem running the E8400 @ 8.5 x 492 MHz (4.18GHz)...

Final setup:

Asus Maximus Extreme
E8400
WD Raptor 37Gb
Patriot PC3-12800 Viper Extreme
PNY 8800GT
