I know you were on the thread on ncix for bringing them in. PS. where did you fit all the extra cabling, I can't get enough room behind the mobo tray and the case side for any good wire tucking like you have, I'm a little jealous

nice builds!
Thanks! I ended up buying one off a local reviewer here in Toronto who posted it on RFD. Got a good price too!

As for cable management - I 100% know what you're talking about. The Elysium has only average clearance between the back of the mobo tray and the right side panel, and in a case this size - average simply isn't enough, especially considering all the extra cable extensions I used. It took some doing, but after a few minutes of struggling with it like a belligerent anaconda, I was able to lay the case flat and sit on the right side panel, distributing my weight evenly enough to *finally* manage to secure the screws. It's a tight fit!

Thread winner here. I only like to drink MacAllan Sherry Oak 10y cask strength. I have a bottle of 21y Fine Oak in the cupboard.. no idea when i'll open that though.

As for the system build - looks good, cant wait to see the stats when you get the heatsink problem worked out.

Doesn't this just figure. My heatsinks arrived from Supermico on Friday and I was all happy and stuff. Didn't have much time to play over the weekend, but did manage to confirm functionality and install Windows with 1 CPU / 4 dimms installed.

So guess what arrives this morning. Yup, my heatsinks from Metafore. It took four months to find a stinking heatsink for this platform, and all of a sudden I have 12! Ah crap.

I am now able to confirm that both Ubuntu 10.04 and the 6.34 folding client are able to scale up to 80 threads. When left to its own devices, though, scaling is highly inefficient. Fortunately, thekraken cures that issue filling, on average, 99.7% of the available cycles. LGA 1567's NUMA implementation is excellent. By the end of the weekend, I will have some initial results and some pics to share.

Also - I got my replacement Q3QR (Xeon X5675) for Shoebox yesterday. You might recall one arrived in less-than-functional condition. Fortunately, the seller was a stand-up guy and RMA'd it on my behalf. It took a long time, though, as I got my replacement exactly two months to the day after I put the DOA processor in the mail. So I will be able to put the finishing touches on Shoebox once I have a couple of free evenings for assembly and leak testing.

So, since it's been a while...
