WIP Mattlef commits Murder ;)

Hey Everyone,

As i'm sure some of you have noticed, i've embarked on collecting water cooling stuff to move from my Rasa loop to something more.... murdered ;)

With Charles preparing V2 of his murder mod stuff, i'm going to plan on keeping this thread updated as i make changes, upgrades etc. I dont think that this will be long term, but it might end up being just that.

Thats what i have planned now.
Soon, maybe in a bit I may add mobo blocks and a ram block.

So, the PSU is going to stay the same, I've already sleeved quite a bit of it, but there still is some to go.
I'm going to work on some mods as well too. No i'm not going to invert the motherboard, that's been done, plus, like an idiot I've already made a bunch of cuts a while back.

So, Here is what i'm working with right now:



the tubing that comes with the Rasa kit clouds and seems to stain really easily. It wasnt really all that transparent when i got it. So after a few months, the tube looked like this:



So, this is the first post.... of many to come.
Hopefully I can surprise a few of you ;)

This past few weeks has been insanely hectic. With work thowing more and more on my desk on a daily basis (to be expected), working late hours. CBC however decided to make my life a little easier.
To prep for the playoffs and to thank the media buying agencies for their buisness, they took us out on a day to remember.
Waiting at my desk one morning was a little gift.


A CBC mat? really.... thanks... but wait...
what are these?

Tickets..... are we going to a game?
Nope! We're playing in one.

If anyone has ever been to Ricoh, its a great small arena.

Lots of noise for such a small building.... they had music blaring as we walk into the arena, and direct us to our locker room, to find this waiting for me



Oh, and we got free sticks!


I wish i had someone taking more pics, or took more.... but once CBC puts them up, i might update this post.


But what does this have to do with anything?
Well, when i came home after a hard fought game, I had a surprise waiting for me!



Oh what a nice looking bunch of parts :D

Lets take a look at that black one.... its got me so very excited.


Opening it up to find the good stuff ;)



Its a lot bigger than I thought it would be... :S And not the most attractive, but I'm sure it'll work ;)

All my sleeve is from mdpc-x and you can find plenty of manuals here and when you order your sleeve. I know there is a massive sleeve thread over at XS, and i believe that if you check a few of the worklogs on here you will find a few people who documented it.
I unfortunately get so involved and excited in my builds i completely neglect taking pictures sometimes.
It is a rather simple process, but takes practice and patience to execute.

I've been looking at custom sleeving for PSU cables and they look great.. If only I could get rid of the humming from my PSU I would start working on that for sure

Well,
Just my luck. For whatever reason the memory card for my camera is dead, So.... i lost a lot of my my progress pics for building the WC loop. Granted, this is only part of the build, so its not that big of a deal.

So here she stands, ready for a little bit of work


Removed the cables from the PSU, just to make things a little bit easier. In hindsight i should have removed the PSU itself.... reasons for which i'll get to later lol



So I started draining!


After it was all said and done... i took a look at the tubing.


Thats just gross..... The tube that came with the Rasa 750 kit was cloudy to begin with, but it stained really easily and wasnt all that great. After a while it was rock hard, and stained quite heavily.
I mean, just look at the difference between the two.



So I decided to place the rads in classic style. The 120.3 in front, and the 240 in the back.
Both are mounted using foam ;) A little tip/idea i got from a member here.



Yea... that 240 is gross.... i might want to clean it a little bit :S

So here are my notes from the build, where i don't have pics.
One thing that really pissed me off is that the XSPC 5*0 block leaked. I had to void my warranty on the block just to check the O-ring which wasn't on properly. After taking it apart and re-seating the block everything's working fine :)

Overall the block looks alright for the price i paid for it. I might switch it out if I can source a HeatKiller 580 block. Those things are simply beautiful.


I have a pic here, its edited... but this is how the rig stands as of right now.

I'm going to be developing a little bit of a HDD mounting solution. Thinking of a different way to mount SSD's and the one HDD. as well, there is plans to have a Drivebay shroud and what i hope will end up being a custom mid plate and faceplate, depending on what Charles will have available (hopefully soon)



I've mounted my Intel X-25M 120gb, I like it, but its nothing close to being final. Plus I plan on finding a better way to route the power and sata cables. I'm thinking of making my own.
