My System Specs

Default Minor case mods

Case: NZXT Lexa S

Mod: Removed rear 120MM fan grill. Removed top 140MM fan grills. Removed side-panel fan filter.

Benefits: MUCH better airflow, and MUCH quiter. Dropped the system temp by some 5 to 10 degrees. I don't hear the air being sucked/pushed from/into the fan grills anymore.

First gutted-out my system...then, I had to use some heavy-duty cutters...then filed-down then edges...then used the u-channel molding, bought from an auto parts store (for the car doors). Took me a while. Cut my fingers up pretty good, but well worth it.

For one of the top 140MM fan grills, I left the installation-holes in place for securing a 120MM fan (this was done to secure my CoolIt ECO rad on there). Then, attached the 140MM Thermalright X-Silent on top. The front, side, and rear fans are blowing into the case, and the top two exhaust air out of the case.

You should consider adding some finger guards and dust filters on the intake ones.

Nice mod, i've found most stock case filters seem to hinder air flow quite a bit, seen it on a few cases now. Best making your own filter.

LoL, yupyup, I couldn't believe the difference in temps...but the airflow is much better now...(well, also, I originally had the rear fan blowing out of the case, now it's blowing into the case)...but what i really like, is the noise level, so quiet...so, i tried putting my finger thru the fans a couple of times, nope, doesn't hurt, and nope, the fan fins didn't break, but it did freak me out a couple times, LoL...nah, no filters, i'll just clean it regularly, I always do anyway, LoL...

I did some airflow testing years ago using 80mm Tornado fans compared to standard fans.
The noise was so loud I could hear the whine upstairs the result ... a 2 deg C difference

I guess it depends on the setup you have ...

I might look a bit better if you could mount the top fans inside the case ... my 2 cents.

I have the same case, it's a PITA mounting inside, there isn't any clearance from the 5.25" bay, the rear 120mm fan or the motherboard tray. I love the look, but the case is honestly poorly designed. But hey it was 50 bucks and I love the look. The crap ton of fan holes makes for good cooling too.

^^^ yupyup, those top 140MM fans going inside the case is not possible...especially when I have the CoolIt ECO mounted in there at the top...maybe some wire grills, so that it's safer, but wouldn't restrict airflow...
