Hi all, been busy moving into the basement now that winter has arrived, don't want to heat shop for a couple of hours of playtime a night. Made small work area to finish up file sand polish. Painted a case fan, I think it turned out better than the cap showed. Also my first attempt at sleeving, sleeved I\O cables, not to bad although burned small hole in case and shrink pulled away from same. Practice needed.

Good day, still lots to do. First painting is coming along with inside clear coated and outside base coat is curing for final sand then clear.
Many hours of polishing and the pieces are now ready to be brazed, to make up the HDD cage.

Started build HDD cage. Aluminum brazing is working quite well. Takes a little while to get the heat into it, but then it is straight forward brazing. Now a shape is forming, then the other side and clean up and re-polish.

Persistence is a virtue for you, isn't it? I have a tendency to say things like "Screw it, that's good enough," when doing tasks like sanding and polishing. You don't seem to say those things. That's why you get a mirror finish on your paint jobs, while I don't I guess!

Good work!

Thank you. Persistence, yes. This is a hobby for me and this case will sit in my desk in the living room, so looking at it every day, I do not want to think I should have done this or that better. I will do the best I can on every aspect to be happy. and time, money and effort will end up being what it may.

Thank you matsta31. I am happy you have taken the time to go thru it. More to come, mostly flashy stuff now.

Well finished the brazing of the cage and spent most of the day filing, grinding and some sanding more tomorrow then polish. This is what the cage looks like.

Ahh thanks, no legend tho, just having fun.

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and all the best in the New Year.

Back to the build, taking a break from polishing started custom length all 18awg 26 pin cable. First having 2-18awg in one crimp needed to crimp just the wire then soldered then sleeve and shrink in order to get it in connector. Then all done

Early x-mas gift from santa-Nils, a little extra sleeve and such. See you all in the new year
