Make sure you tell them you're looking for flat black. Most powdercoaters do that color very frequently, no set up charges.

Yes, The last person that I talked to was asking for the color, as flat black is pretty common dog and they do a lot of it. But in this case they were still starting at $300 (insane actually) even with the most common color.

The Saguenay region and people praise themselves for their aluminium production and related businesses... ALCAN (Now RIOTINTO) is employing a LOT of people around here... A lot of businesses are revolving around the Aluminium by-products and stuff...

The price just isn't right here.

You have started my interest, and I called up my local shops too.
They are quoting one for $150 minimum charge and I might throw my
friend's atcs840 in,(total 2 ATCS840) and get a better deal ourselves.

Persoanlly, $150 doesn't seem bad either. It's double what Sugar paid (BTW, is $60 their base price, or do you know people?) but hell, the Powder Coating is worth it. It is durable, and looks nice and even. For $150, I would still go for it

I walked in with a box of prepped parts, asked when they were doing black again ("All the time"), and then asked how much to throw these parts in with your next batch of black.

When I was phoning around locally, the people seemed to think it was huge and they'd have to disassemble the case. I got estimates in the $100-120 range too, but once they saw it, I got a deal. I was prepared to pay more, but because I'd done the work beforehand it cost less. I've painted cases before, and for the time I spent doing them, I'd rather pay the money to have them done right so they don't scratch.

I understand, but a case that cost me $165 (after MIR)+$150 paint job = $315. A HAF X costs $200 and its' already black.

That makes a lot of sense! You brought the parts over and then you got the deal. That's an interesting avenue to explore. And yes, painting CAN be done with great results, but sometimes can go wrong and and in any case takes some time and is a PITA.
