Because it's what I'm planning to try when my ATCS840+parts comes-in.
I ordered a Noctua P12 for my S1283 DK HSF, and I will use the adaptor provided by Noctua for slow down one of the 230mm on top of the case (the front one) to reduce short circuit air flow. I also added a Scythe Kama Bay+ for the front of the case.
Good thing I looked at your topic, it helped me out |
Yep, I wasn't planning on using the low-voltage adapters for my P12s themselves, so I stuck them on the stock CM fans. The stock 120mm fan (using it as a bottom intake) spins at around 1000rpm@7v, while the 230mm (front intake) spins at around 600rpm@7v, and I can't hear anything. I mean, with 8 fans the machine's not quite silent, but it's significantly quieter than the ambient noise level in my room (tower fan for circulation, panaflos in my primary rig, noisy housemates

). I need to turn everything else off if I want to listen to the fans, but even then they just sound like woooooooooosh
