Your 5*** Series Cooling Pics!!!

Hey guys,
With the plethora of coolers and blocks that will fit most 58** and 57** series cards I thought to myself, "why not create a thread..... to inspire others to potentially void their warranty and get some bad ass cooling on these 5series GPUs?"


So here, why not post your 5 Series card, show what mods you have done, what coolers and how you've overclocked it.




I'll start'r off:

Card: XFX 5850
Bios: MSI - Unlocked
Overclock: 950/1100 @ 1.225v
Temps: Idle: 32c @ 28%fan - Load 68c @ 45%fan - VRM max - 78c
Cooling: Stock. Custom fan profile Soon: Modified Twin Turbo Pro

AC should launch their 5970 solution soon. Saw it at CeBit.
I just wish they also made one for the 5850.... so I dont have to cut some fins to make it fit lol

When they do, you bet your butt I'll get one and post here .. Provided I can still Xfire with a second one that I'll inevitably get later on, lol.

that's the problem I have with my 4890 at the time, I have the best thermalright rad for it, but no way to xfire with the VRM solution , unless opt to a less efficient vrm cooling for the second card.. make no sense

When I got my 5870 one from NCIX, there was a sticker on part of the box that said it was compatible with thr 5850... Wonder how long it took before AC noticed it doesn't fit.

taking it 'old skool' TR HR-03 Rev. A, this is my specially modified for '4 card operation in a 759 Classified' version...here

the heat sinks are Swifty MC21's, 8800 GTX styles. they have worked awesome with a number of cards, the 5870 included.

i run the card only for benching, 1050/1330 w/1.35v vCORE, stock volts on memory for now. core temps never crack 50C and the VDDC phase temperatures never go over 60C. a 120mm Ultra Kaze 2000RPM sits on the heat sink fins blowing down, with another pointed at the PCB near the rear of the card. i'll have photos of the card in action later tomorrow or the day after, i am running 2D right now.

Those VDDC sinks look awesome..... how did you bend those heatpipes? are they brittle now that they've been bent?

i bent them by hand, just slowly and carefully. i am not sure what you mean by brittle but i won't be bending them back...not worth the risk, as i almost bet a pipe will crack. i think that is what you mean.
