Ah so even if it was touching it would do nothing.

Nope; add also the fact that the contact surface would be very small. Why? Is it? If so, be careful that the HSF does not bump the NB heatsink off the NB itself.

Well I got some bad news, after measuring it looks like my Scythe is not going to to fit in my case. Looks like for now I will have to go with the stock HSF. I have heard of people getting some decent OC from the stock Intel HSF, I will try it outside the case tomorrow and see what happens. If I have to sell the Scythe I may get a AC7 I should be able to do 3.0 with that.

Can you take a picture?

Would it be possible to cut away (dremmel) a small part of the fins on the exchanger to make it fit?

It's the fan that's not fitting. If i put the fan down past the bottom fins the mounting wire will touch the top of the memory. The fans current location the top of the fan is what touches the window on the case.

But that fan, that's a 140mm, right? Or is it a 120mm?

120mm I'd try a 92mm but i'm not sure that is going to be enough airflow

I found this fan.

NMB-MAT (Panaflo) 92MM High Speed Cooling Fan 2950RPM 56.8CFM 35DBA 3PIN W/ Sensor - $14.16

I would just have to bend the wire clips to fit.
