Yup, typical .5" tubing kinks with a rad smaller than 3". Below that Smartcoils are need. Then min. rad is 1.5" - but I wouldn't try that...

Running straight inside the case is the easiest, cleanest way to do it.

Sorry about the lack of an update... unfortunately there's nothing to add other than the fact that I got my second length of smartcoils yesterday.

Hopefully I'll have time to strip the case right down over the long weekend and then be able to start on the case mods.

Finally got some time to start this.....

Initial pics....

Starting point.... It's been pretty good to me.... :)

Stripped down to just the old WC gear

Ready to go under the knife...... :)

The last pic shows why I need to do a top window mod at the same time as the WC upgrade.... gotta get rid of those holes for the hoses & need to do something aobut the fan cut out as well.

So far things aren't going as planned.... the flush mount kit isn't working as I had hoped so it's off to Canadian Tire tommorrow for a pop rivet gun to make due with. (Wish I could find some real "peaning" rivets, but last time I asked the salesperson looked at me like I had two heads..... :) ).

Finally found a solution to the mess I made of the top window...... :)

I squared out the top hole, and smoothed out the edges with hand files.

Cut the window out (easiest tool without cracking is the small dremmel cutter), as well as cutting out the fan hole & drilling out the screw holes for the fan.

Had a hell of a time figuring out how I was going to mount the window.

Even once I had decided to use some brackets to secure it from the bottom I was trying to figure out how I was going to get the holes perfect for the pop rivets and still keep the brackets tight against the plexi......

After a couple of hours worth of head scratching the big light bulb came on and I finally decided on sticky velcro which not only allows me to easily mount the brackets tightly... it also allows me to install them "rough" for now and worry about making them pretty at a later date.

Window secured in place. Seems strong enough even with a few temporary brackets in place. Still will need to drill the holes for the WC tubing once I get the rad installed. (Protective film is still in place, so it looks like crap... :) ).

Looking good. BTW what are those things your wife made on the cooling rack? They look good.

Shortbread cookies with jam in the middle..... :)

With the big turkey dinner tomorrow, we're fighting over workspace upstairs, and it's already dark out so I can't work outside.... guess who wins the space war????? :)

Nice.

Speaking of workspace I am fighting with my wife over that too. I showed my wife the Pudget Mineral Oil rig and she wants me to do that for the home theatre system. I think it would be cool and make a conversation piece. I'm gonna put the old XP 3000 Barton in.

Proof of concept for my rad mounting plan. Seems more than strong enough, even with just the two mounting points per side.

The pump and res were the easiest step of this build so far..... :)

I absolutely love the mounting hardware that comes with the swiftech mini-res!!!! If a person can't find a way to mount this thing in their case, they aren't examining all of the possibilities.

Me want cookies!

Those brackets will be more than enough to withstand the weight of the filled rad, for sure. Are they 2 or 4 brackets?
