Default The SRP worklog

SRP? Server Rack Project...

I have not seen too many rackmounts builds around here, and since I managed to grab a Buffalo Terastation Pro II rackmount for dirt-cheap, I told myself why not...

First, I must thank Gord and Paul (SugarJ and Cptn.Vortex) - Gord first, whom allowed me to work on a beautiful case, the Cosmos S. You did a wonderful paint job, and I am certain that another member will enjoy the case as much as I did. Second, Paul. Thank you for the quick replies and the fast shipment of the rack - I can't believe you had the part in stock, the exact shape I needed.

This will be a lenghty worklog - I estimate about 20 hours of work (and rework) to complete the installation. The kicker? The chips will still be water-cooled...

First, prepping the case. New fans installed (Gelids), and cutting away the rear fan grill to allow tubing passage. Luckly, I still had some edge molding from an earlier project.

The case: Norco RPC-220 2U (Newegg.ca - NORCO RPC-270 Black 2U Rackmount Server Case 1 External 5.25" Drive Bays - Server Chassis).

He's at Frontier PC. And no problem 3.0, you provided a good home for the Cosmos so I could play with my TJ. Glad you enjoyed it.

Can't wait!

But... what's going in it? Your dual-xeon system?

Check fit with the rackmount.

SSDs, HDD and PSU installed. This is the worst case I have ever worked with, it's tighter than one can believe and I better watch out for cuts... more tomorrow.

The early returns are looking good! Can't wait to see how in the hell you're going to manage to get it wet.

Will you be putting your main in it, or is this a whole new build by itself?
