coolermaster v8 in a coolermaster 330!!!

oh man, I'm doing a hobby build with a q6600 I got for $30, and I have a coolermaster v8 that I wasnt using and decided to try the coolermaster 330 as it was $48 at memory express. The door of the case rests against the top of the cooler! haha fits perfectly. here are some pics.

this build consists of some parts from my sisters old compaq, a refurb mobo, a graphics card I got from a friend for free (very poor), the $30 q6600, my v8, and a new 310. just something to play with and maybe give/sell to a friend/family member. its overclocked to 3.0 ghz now (mobo restrictions).

yah. I was real lucky. its the same guy who was gonna sell me a skulltrail mobo, 2 qx9775's, 8 gm ram, and a gtx 280 for $1300, but the mobo was broke as I said in a previous thread. he used to work for a big computer company, so he has lots of parts and friends with lots of parts. I also got a sealed watercooling kit off of him for free that included a D-Tek fuzion V2 cpu block, and 2 D-tek GPU waterblocks with a 120x240x25mm rad. I use that in my main Rig, i7 at 4.2 GHz.

It's almost too bad that the V8 Cooler fit inside the panel, because it would have been pretty sweet to have to have had mod the side panel and had the cooler protrude à la muscle car.

haha, yah. My brother and I were thinking how cool a case wold be if it was made to look like the front of your favourite car/truck. just the front before the cab. you could have everything under the hood, all the connections would still be at the back facing the wall. If it was a car with the headlights that fold down into the body of the car, you could put the optical drives in there. they open up when you want to use them, and fold down when you dont want to. you could have it water cooled , and have the rad in the front of the car where the cars radiator would normally be, etc etc. I think for a pc/car enthusiast would love it, I cant imagine it would be cheap to build though...

I see you've got a p5ne sli there they don't have a sb cooler, it's naked could be affecting your OC I guess...

yah, I could only get it up to 3GHz with that board. Replaced it with a P5K Deluxe, but it would not post unless I reset the cmos and would stop posting again as soon as it restarted. I replaced that with a P5Q. I really wanted to go with an intel chipset since I have heard the nvidia chipsets suck. with this board, I have it OC'd to 3.5 GHz without changing any settings but the base clock. only prime95'd it for about 20 min and it got to 70 or a little below with 1.4v or somthing close to that. I can probably get it higher, and I'll be trying this weekend probably.

The way I got the q6600 for cheap was from a friend who I had to buy him lunch at work 4 times, lol. around $30.

Thats pretty sweet, but I think we mean different things.... not a car-themed pc, but a model of the front of a car with a pc built into it.
