Dual Quad Upgrade Figured I'd share this with the community, so here's my new upgrade: http://gallery.dalefloer.com/main.ph...serialNumber=2 That's a pair of Xeon E5520s, 12GB of DDR3-1333 ECC memory, an Asus Z8NA-D6C motherboard and two s1366 Xeon coolers. http://gallery.dalefloer.com/main.ph...serialNumber=2 The board with CPUs installed. I used the same video card as before (7900GTO, upgrading it wasn't in my budget). http://gallery.dalefloer.com/main.ph...serialNumber=2 Board with coolers and RAM installed. http://gallery.dalefloer.com/main.ph...serialNumber=2 A different shot of the board, coolers and RAM. http://gallery.dalefloer.com/main.ph...serialNumber=2 The board installed in my P180 case. http://gallery.dalefloer.com/main.ph...serialNumber=2 That's a lot of threads. EDIT: Forgot to add, thanks Vortex for the help and cable-fu. So, what do you all think? |
Was fun building it ;). I want to copy you soon and go 16threads.... |
I think the task manager sums it up-very nice! |

Congratz on your kicka$$ system! Now let's see some benchies!:clap: |
Copycats! :haha: Seriously tho, start posting in the multi-cpu section, bring on some wPrime numbers? hehe. Nice build (isn't it a bit loud though with those coolers?) |
The coolers are actually quite silent. Mind you I didnt hear them on full load. What rpm's do they ramp up to load in your baking hot room Dale? |
Awsome, I really like that setup. I keep having the ITCh to do an Opteron Build when Istanbul goes live. This is making it harder and harder to ignore that lol. ST |

Okay, so that's the equivalent of...2 920s? that's a crazy mobo...everytime I see mutli proc mobos like this one and CMetaphors, I get all giddy...then I realise I don't have a use for THAT much power and cry a little on the inside >.> |
