My System Specs

Default Tearing apart a beast

Not sure this is really a worklog, but a lot of my friends haven't seen the inside of a video card, and maybe some of the newer guys will see what it looks like as well. Ah what the hell, here it goes.

Here's the card, au natural.(Swirls is S/N coverup, don't worry.)

Backplate, screws removed. Damn those are small.

Just to get an idea of the screw size.

There's the guts and the cooler. Sweet lookin.

This is what the card makers slap on your card, the wall of TIM.

About as good as the reflection gets without some polish.

I knew something hid under that.

And there she is, all cleaned up.

And all dirty again. Dirty with some diamond. (AKA IC7) Also, it looks like air pockets forming there, but It didn't, that's just the evil light.

Whoops, the "OC" sticker fell off in all the commotion.

Overall, taking apart a video card is a giant pain in the arse if you lack the screwdrivers needed. However, replacing the TIM got me a near 15C drop in temps for the most intensive parts of Crysis: Warhead. Now that's insane.
