I was toying with the idea of actually pulling the whole top of the case off... replacing the solid alu. piece with a meshed version.... no more airflow problems at the top of the case...

Ill keep looking at the air cooling options and think.... alot...

Cruel chilly.... just cruel. I wanted to keep this project on a somewhat-strict budget in order to prove a few points really. One of which is that you Don't need $500-600 dollars in cooling equipment to keep a server quiet... Nor loud for that matter, lol.

I think cutting the top would be a good idea. However, What if you bought some rad grills, and use those for the top; something like this: RadGrillz™ Stripes 3x120 Aluminum Black with Carbon Fiber Trim Products Model: ACR-RG35296-CF [ACR-RG35296-CF] : Performance-PCs.com, ... sleeve it and they will come . You could attach fans to it as well, if need be

Indeed they are! A couple things I've noticed though thats different than just about every other graphics card i've seen:
-The coating on the HSF isnt just paint, it almost has a "rubbery" feeling or some kind of textured matte finish, unusal - but also interesting!
-The "hub" part of the blower fan on the card is actually on the bottom, where a regular blower fan would have its blades. Its true there are gaps in this hub to allow air to pass through it and be pushed by the fins... but the fins are on the top of the card. Another unusual design trait.

We'll just have to see how it all performs!
