I doubt an excess amount of giant magneto resistance can warp space time. However it will warp his electric bill.

You're telling me...

I measured power on my case last night and it's running a hair over 200W with load on HDD and very little on CPU. (No GPU)

I wanna see how much power it'll take to run 24 HDDs.
Good thing there's redundant 900Ws in there....

She needs more power, captain! She can't take much more o' this!

Hahah...I'd love to dig through all the files you have, sometime, just to see what's actually in there. I'd probably be continually surprised, "That's a lot of...Wait. There's more?!"

I've always been an insatiably curious person... and now I have something to tell people, years down the road, about "that one guy with 60-something TB's of storage back in 2010." My audience would, of course, all have at least that much, all on a single hard drive...or whatever they have. [insert sci-fi object here]

Yeah, I'd hate to see those electricity bills... honestly though, anyone who runs a true hardware raid (Areca, 3ware, anything that isn't Highpoint :p ) is cool in my book... but throwing 60TBs at a RAID5 or RAID6 makes you nucking futs.

You're my kind of people, Death Hawk.

I'm waiting on my HDD order before posting a full build log.
I have a few kicking around for testing since Alter3d Reality on NCIX is building an almost identical rig.
If you guys like, I'll give you guys a few teasers.

And I'm still working out the speeds and junk. For some reason I'm getting horrendous read/writes. AR has nailed some of it down and reached over 300MB/s writes but reads are still

I've only reached about 100MB/s read/write, but I only have 2 drives.
