Here's a n00b's question "Why do we need to rent servers ?"
To reduce lag ? Isn't it fine to just play over Bnet (or whatever it is for the other games), I understand for FPS u need everything perfect, but for RTS, I find Bnet 2.0 to be working fine (except when there's an oddball that lags cuz of its Internet.

Why not use 50% StarCraft / 50% COD4?
Well that could be cool except I don't know how I would decide who won the computer in the end. I was thinking of doing SC2 in July/August at the next event.

In the case of Crysis 2 and many other current FPS games there is no way to host a local server. If you want to run an event and have control over what maps are played, what format the game is in and which players are in the room you kinda need to rent a server to do that. As for Bnet 2.0 I have no idea what you can do with it by default. I never played much SCII multiplayer so I don't know if you can make private matches and such. I should really reinstall SCII and find out.

I have no clue what COD4 is aside from the name and a FPS (I assume).
Yep its a FPS game set in modern times. A few years old now but still a fan favorite at lan parties. Plus it lets you set up a local server to host the game which is nice.

If you're planning on driving from the South shore avoid the Champlain Bridge this weekend. One side will be closed all weekend for repairs and there will only be one lane open towards Montreal and two lanes to the South Shore.

40 signups, so we should have a good turnout once the walk-ins sign up. Really looking forward to this! It will make my lack of sleep worth it.

Llew, for the Montreal members you may want to confirm that if they just want to show up and not compete for the prize, there is no registration fee. :)

It was pretty fun, as planned, I didn't fare too well in the FPS, but the rest of the time was well worth my time... I am just curious as to who was the guy wearing the HWC shirt ?
I think I also saw Sky, my guess is that he was taking pictures... but being who I am, my mom told me not to talk to strangers :P so I have a problem engaging conversation with strangers.
