I'm not sure if that one passes the audio through like the ATI adapters do.

HDMI has to pass both Audio and Video by nature. Now if you're curious as to whether it passes the Audio through in the same way (behavioral) as the ATI, I too am interested in knowing

I have an ATI revision A that came with a 2600XT and it will not pass the sound that is why I am looking for the revision B adapter they will work with the 3xxx cards (I have a Gigabyte 3850) in my HTPC .

Did you hook up and/or enable the audio on the card?

Observe the differences:

High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) Type A, Type B connector pinout and signals @ pinouts.ru

Type B gives an extra lane for High Definition Video (higher than 1080p).

I don't think it has anything to do with HDMI type A or B it is an ATI dongle revision A or B read this post
Visiontek 3850 HDMI Audio not working - Rage3D Discussion Area
So what I am looking for is the gray type b ati dongle if anyone has one they are not using.

I have one, but unfortunately I'm not willing to part with it on the off chance that I decide to use either my 3870 or 3450 to run my LCD tv.

Have you checked to see if you can buy it as an accessory from ATI? It might even be worth your while to consider picking up a cheap 3450 that ships with one.
