• PSU for less than $60
• DVD-RW for less than $30
• Wireless keyboard and mouse for less than $50
• Windows Media Center remote and receiver for less than $30

The lower the price, the better.

CPU = E2160 = $75
Motherboard = ECS G31 mATX motherboard = $55
Video Card = Powercolor 3450 (Passive) = $45
Case = Aerocool M-40 = $80
Power supply = Thermaltake TR2-420w = $40
Ram = Buy from Vortex or pay a lil more, OCZ 2Gb kit (after MIR) = $30-50
Burner = Any, most are around $30-40
Keyboard/mouse = Any
MCE remote and IR receiver = Ebay? approx. $20-30.

Thats pretty darn close to your budget for a decent system thats upgradable easily with a newer video card and up a 1333 45nm Intel processor.

Yup, I realize that, but I'm trying to keep it as cheap as possible. I want to do with the absolute bare minimum. In fact, if I use CoreAVC, I don't even really need a discrete graphics card. So, let's open up the options.

I would also accept:
An AMD dual-core processor with a 780g / 790g (or any other board that has onboard HDMI). IIRC Intel has no equivalent board, am I right?

EDIT: The 4000+ overclocks like a MONSTER to on stock voltage. It runs 2.8GHz on stock Vcore.

EDIT EDIT: I even have a Hauppage 1600 TV tuner I would toss in for another $70 ontop of whatever else you buy.

Argh, damn you. I was about to put in an order at NCIX for most of the stuff (minus RAM, case, and keyboard/mouse). Don't need a tuner because I'm, ehm, waiting for a certain card that looks up to the sky.

Will the 4000+ at 2.8 run high-bitrate 1080p H.264 video with CoreAVC, or even ffdshow? And is the 3450 passively cooled?
