WTB HTPC Parts

Alrighty 'fellers. You have the parts I want. You know you want to sell them to me. And for a price, I am willing to take them off your hands. Yes, that's right, I will take those parts. Why? Because I'm a nice guy.
  • Intel Celeron E1200, E1400, E2200, Pentium Dual-Core E2140, etc., whatever it is, I want a CPU for less than $50
  • mATX motherboard for less than $50
  • Low-end DX10 GPU with HD decoding for less than $40
  • HTPC case or cube case for less than $100
  • 2GB DDR2 for less than $40
  • PSU for less than $60
  • DVD-RW for less than $30
  • Wireless keyboard and mouse for less than $50
  • Windows Media Center remote and receiver for less than $30
The lower the price, the better.

Easy: Buy new=
CPU = E2160 = $75
Motherboard = ECS G31 mATX motherboard = $55
Video Card = Powercolor 3450 (Passive) = $45
Case = Aerocool M-40 = $80
Power supply = Thermaltake TR2-420w = $40
Ram = Buy from Vortex or pay a lil more, OCZ 2Gb kit (after MIR) = $30-50
Burner = Any, most are around $30-40
Keyboard/mouse = Any
MCE remote and IR receiver = Ebay? approx. $20-30.

Thats pretty darn close to your budget for a decent system thats upgradable easily with a newer video card and up a 1333 45nm Intel processor. :thumb:

Yup, I realize that, but I'm trying to keep it as cheap as possible. I want to do with the absolute bare minimum. In fact, if I use CoreAVC, I don't even really need a discrete graphics card. So, let's open up the options.

I would also accept:

An AMD dual-core processor with a 780g / 790g (or any other board that has onboard HDMI). IIRC Intel has no equivalent board, am I right?

Willing to buy ATX instead of mATX ?

S_G August 13, 2008 06:27 PM

Nope, has to be mATX unfortunately.

I have a PILE of HTPC stuff you'd be interested it:

ASUS M3A78-EMH HDMI AM2 motherboard 780G - $50
AMD 64 X2 4000+ w/Scythe Shuriken low profile cooler - $60
HIS 3450 256MB video card for Crossfire X with the 780G chipset - $30
Official Microsoft Media center wireless keyboard AND remote control with IR receiver - $50

If you buy it all from me I'd sell it all for $180 shipped, $175 if you pay with Interact Email money transfer.

EDIT: The 4000+ overclocks like a MONSTER to on stock voltage. It runs 2.8GHz on stock Vcore.

EDIT EDIT: I even have a Hauppage 1600 TV tuner I would toss in for another $70 ontop of whatever else you buy.

Argh, damn you. I was about to put in an order at NCIX for most of the stuff (minus RAM, case, and keyboard/mouse). Don't need a tuner because I'm, ehm, waiting for a certain card that looks up to the sky.

Will the 4000+ at 2.8 run high-bitrate 1080p H.264 video with CoreAVC, or even ffdshow? And is the 3450 passively cooled?
