My System Specs

Default 1155 i5

I may have found a 1155 z68 board for <$50, deal still pending the arrival of his new board.

So I will be keeping my eye out for cheap 1155 i5 cpus and 4-8gb of DDR3, might consider better DDR3 than I have in my main rig so I can hand my other stuff down to the z68 board.

Nothing concrete until I have the 1155 board in hand.

Well if I wasn't trying to buy something for my friend I would link up some available combos.

If I get what I'm looking for I'll send you some info.

I can't wait for the ice to leave so I can get out on the water again.
The fishing I've been doing lately is mostly with an Ultralight rod and stomping around creeks and small ponds for chunky bass.
A 17-20" Smallmouth on a 6'6 UL with 10/2 braid is a hell of a fight in a small creek. :D

I've seen some good cpu/mobo combos over the past 2 months since I've been looking for a 2nd GTX 670 for my main rig and they've seemed to dry up once I'm actually looking for them.
Haha, I know this will be the time I start seeing $200 670 2gb cards again.

I even passed up a $140 i7 930, X58 UD3R and 6gb OCz gold combo a few weeks back on kijiji which would be looking mighty fine right about now.

I can't believe I just sold my two spare lga775 boards this past month that would have swapped right into this system!

We keep all this stuff laying around just in case we need it, and when we finally get rid of it is when we end up needing it!

Thanks for the Response FF,
oh and GOLD FOR CANADA MENS HOCKEY!!!

Just bumping my thread,

Hoping to find a GOOD P45 board on par to my Gigabyte P45 UD3R, or a lga1366 X58 board and some Triple channel ram as a friend in the US offered me a Xeon X5570 for the price of shipping!

X58 socket boards are expensive to come by even these days, tour ebay to make yourself an idea. Your best bet is LGA1155.

Yes, I know they tend to run on the more expensive side.
Most of the ones I'm running into are the EVGA Classifieds and Asus Rampages that are still worth a premium.

I've been keeping my eyes out for 1155 stuff and at the prices most people want for them I'm better off getting a 4670k/z87 bundle picked up at Microcenter.
