I played a little Borderlands 2 this morning, just to see how the card would run it. Had all settings on High/Ultra, 1920x1200, and I couldn't really tell the difference in FPS from my 680. Temps were at about 69 Degrees, fan speed at about 25-30%, so barely audible. This is a higher end card than I ever wanted for my son's rig, so I'm happy!

I removed all the screws from the underside of the card, as well as three screws from the bracket (where the DVI ports are), then just pulled off the heatsink. The heatsink and shroud come off as one piece, and you then have to take out more screws to separate the heatsink from the shroud. They were tiny screws, too. It was actually a HUGE pain in the ass, but I had fun doing it anyway. Once everything is off, it's so much easier to clean. The white stuff you see on the RAM modules isn't actually TIM, it's remnants of thermal pad that remained stuck to the modules. That stuff is actually supposed to stay on the heatsink.

Card is out of my system, wrapped up and under the tree!

That will be a great Christmas gaming present. What is the rest of his computer?

That APU rig that I built up for him and is wrapped up under the tree. New Xmas build for my Stepson. The initial plan was to just do an IGP build, but eventually the computer geek in me decided to get a discrete video card as well. The grand total came to about $500 including the monitor and GPU, so I think it's a fairly potent rig for that price! I laugh at people who buy pre-builts at Future Shop, hahahaha.

Oh yeah...I remember that now. Quite a bit more than IGP now. Enjoy.
