[WTB] WTB/WTT High End Digital Camera

I know nothing about camera's literally nothing haha
But sick of the grainy photo's my iphone 4 and 4s take, I want to know if anyone has a really nice digital camera they want to sell or trade as I would love something that could take good pix of my builds and one thats good for pix with lots going on like when my kids are chasing the dog around I dont want the pic to be a total blur.

How much are you looking to spend?I have always used Canon they have great lenses in their camera's. you could spend $150 on a point and shoot or up to $1000 on T3i DSLR package. Bought the wife a Canon Power Shot A2000 ,easy to use,uses regular AAA rechargables and has a kids mode on it ,works very well for kids and pets'. It takes great pic's

How much you willing to spend as high end means alot of different things to different people.

For me "High End" means a 45MP $35,000 Hassleblad or a $80,000 RED Epic.

I should rephrase myself looking for a good digital camera that's under $500 and great at taking moving photos as well as great for taking photos of builds I do as I build way to many systems but the pix always look like crap on my iphone :(

I got a Sony DSC-HX100V hardly ever used it, took it on vacation once. Used my American Express points to get it, excellent condition includes everything except the original box. It received lots of amazing reviews out there, check for yourself. Asking $410.

I just went through buying a few cameras for my wife, daughter and myself. The Nikon S8000 is decent enough, with lots of features normally only found on high end units. Around $250 when I last looked.

I prefer Canon as well. If you plan on spending a few $ for a decent one, consider the 60D. With a 18-200mm IS lens.

My wife's the camera buff, so I don't know a lot. Make sure you get an IS lens if you get interchangeable lens capabilities.

The IS means image stabilizer, so be certain to get a lens with that.

A lot of the other cameras are good, but in this case, from the results I've seen, this is one category where spending more makes a HUGE difference imho.

Check with a local camera store as there are plenty of 2nd hand cameras at quite reasonable prices. They go fast, so you have to check often.

If you have an ebay account, I have gotten some great deals by bidding last second on some items.

Most of the suggestions are common sense stuff that took me by surprise because I didn't know anything.

There's a Nikon camera for sale in the BST, but it's not cheap either.

Good luck and I guess we'll see the results, hehe.

If you aren't interested in going into it semi-seriously, I don't think a DSLR is the way to go. A modern point & shoot will do the trick. Hell even my 6 year old Canon Powershot IS3 will do what you listed.

You will never get "good" cameras on phones, its a matter of physics, light and lens size / sensor size.

Canon is not the only one to make good cameras; other companies make arguably better cameras, but I am still partial to Canon.

Canon S100: Compact, but unlike the other cheaper ones has lots of room for improvement with manual controls.
Canon G12: Almost the same as the S100, but not so compact and feels better in hand with a swivel LCD screen.
Panasonic TS4: Not in the same class as the other 2, but a very nice camera to be used in a wide variety of sitations (waterproof, shockproof, etc.)
Nikon is also reputed, but every single Nikon camera I used, I felt like I had no control and I was totally confused by it. That's not saying they are bad, but personally they are not for me.

I had the precursor to the S100, the S90. It was an awesome camera for it's size. Right now i am loving my Panasonic G3. The video mode is incredible for a camera of it's size.
