If the buyer did not pay for shipping, or paid for shipping but not insurance than it's not mightyallspark's fault. She will not have to refund the money. CP clearly stole the product and thus they would be at fault, but since it was not insured nothing can be done. CP won't even care if an employee took it. The employee knew this because it was not insured.
The only way to prevent an employee from taking a product is to wrap it up in paper that you can't see through. So if her friend just shipped the 3870x2 box, than the employee got some itchy fingers and opened it up.
The only fault of hers would be the improper packaging. But she doesn't have to do a full refund. If she wants to do a full refund, or a partial refund, than that's up too her.
It really does suck when you're a victim of theft. I might think twice about using CP :P
