Gauging Interest: FS: Car Audio 2x15s, Amp, Cap, Box

Hey all, In a recent attempt to upgrade my car audio (not really the forum for this stuff, but im gauging interest anyways) I got together a huge kit of JBL/Bassworx stuff as follows:
- 1 x JBL 1502D speaker : 15'' Dual voice coil (2 ohms each coil) subwoofers rated at 300w rms, 1200w peak each. One is slightly used (from my car, 3 months old) the second in near mint. Retails for about $200 each or more. Total $400. Still Available!
JBL Car & Marine Audio

- JBL GTO7001 Amplifier : Mono class D amplifier rated at 700w rms @ 2 ohms (the two 15's can be wired to 2 ohms together, 1 ohm each = put them in series). Used for a little bit but in near-mint condition as well. Retails for about $600-700 new. Still Available!
JBL Car & Marine Audio

- Bassworx 1.0 Farad Capacitor : Used but in great working condition. I got it from a friend so there's no box or anything. Retails for $100-120 or so. Still Available!



Total retail cost for the kit(using the lowest estimate):
1 x 200 = 400
1 x 600 = 1000
1 x 100 = 1100 Total Approx. Retail.


I'm selling the kit now because #1) I don't have enough free time to install it and #2) it'll take up too much of my trunk to be practical... sigh.

I'm asking ***$600 obo*** for the whole kit, no shipping, just pickup in the montreal area. any takers? Any interest at all? This is great chance to get some massive kick from your trunk for cheap!

FYI a class D amp is best driven at 1 ohm impedence. With both 15 inchers at 2 ohm, wire them both to the amp in Parallel, to drop the impedence to 1 ohm and almost double the amp output (~1400W). Then you'll hear what the amp is capable of, if it can handle a 1 ohm impedence. Not all amps are design for such a beating. I know my Orion HCCAs can.

Unfortunately this amp isnt 1 ohm stable, the higher GTI series from JBL is but it's also much more expensive. I chose this amp (the GTO7001) because 700wrms @ 2 Ohms will match the dual 15's nicely without being too pricey. hehe.

Every amplifier is designed differently and the owner's manual will tell you the minimum supported impedance. This particular amplifier is not designed for 1 ohm loads, most likely because the wiring and/or circuit board are not designed to handle the current a 1 ohm load would require.

Also, halving the impedance doesn't double the output. As stated in the previous paragraph, the amplifier probably won't be able to handle the additional current meaning that there will most likely severe losses as the internal resistance increases due to heat, the distortion will rise as the load drops, and it will severely shorten the lifespan of the amplifier. What you're suggesting is very likely to destroy the equipment.

In addition, a pair of dual 2 ohm subs can be wired to 0.5 (parallel-parallel), 2 (parallel-series or series-parallel), or 8 ohms (series-series). Wiring them in parallel-parallel would either throw the amplifier immediately into protection mode or damage the amplifier.

Sorry to thread dump, I just don't want anyone to buy the stuff then destroy it and blame the seller.
