Question ASUS K8S-MX

I realize this is pretty obscure but my Father-in-law's mobo bit the dust and it's an OEM licensed Win7 install.

Quote:
SB power light comes on but the HD light goes on hard and the power comes on regardless of the front switch... I'm relatively sure the processor is okay and I've hooked up a different PSU, same results. Some of the capacitors look slightly distended and it's acted like this since a recent power outage so I'm comfortable with my diagnosis.
Do any of you happen to have an exact ASUS K8S-MX on your shelf begging for a new home?

PM me if you do. I can source them from Hong Kong if the ebay searches are to be believed but I'd rather get one locally if I can.

I'll certainly pay shipping and whatever fair price you deem necessary but be kind my in-law's are of modest means and it's an old board...

I have an ASUS A7V-400MX if anyone is trying to do the same with that model...

It worked out great thanks to Rasparthe, turned out the motherboard, the CPU and the PSU had to be replaced... A good argument for a surge protector I think...

I found it interesting that a mobo won't boot the bios setup if the processor is dead, nothing, no display.

With the new board I found that the processor was toast, which is hard to believe since it looks so pretty with it's AMD heat spreader, but I guess it's black under there.

Then the last piece of the puzzle was the PSU, it was supposed to be a decent one, Antec trupower 300, and it fooled me by powering up the board, but the minute it was on for a few seconds it would restart. To make things further complicated I started getting warnings from Vista to run a repair. Wow, talk about misleading, luckily I wasn't even able to boot my Vista CD and procede to replace a perfectly sound install.

Once I put in a new PSU everything hummed along nicely.

Thanks to Rasparthe, HWC and if my F-I-L frys this board to I may come calling Jaydu... :)
