Dlink routers are tend to overheat on extreme usage like running these at the same time: bittorrent, 24/7 downloading/uploading, firewall, SSID broadcasting and high power on wireless.

Why overheat? Because Dlink use crappy heatsinks!

Before the mod, the router would overheat and the "processor throttling" kicks in. Well that's no good because either the speed of my connection would drop to dialup speeds or just lose the connection.

After the mod, my connection is solid stable even with so much stress I put on 24/7. The ping I get on my favorite server to game have dropped noticeably lower from ~100ms to ~60ms.

However, Linksys routers do with the 3rd party "tomato" firmware.

I have that same router and man does it get hot. And every once and while I have to reset it probably caused by the heat. A couple buddies have same problem. Guess I'll try that mod myself.

LoL yeah I was surprised he got this far without it being mentioned. I would have said something myself, but I wanted to know what he had to say about 'Frankenrouter'.

I'll help if needed. Take out the bottom rubber feet and you will find the screws that hold the cover tight. And then the cover should pop out easy.

Note taken, but sure I can sell the modded ones right?

Btw, If this router does sell, I will continue to mod more and sell more in the future. And I've just added a fan grill to protect my fingers . Updated pic will be up soon!
