Default Socket 775 CPU, PCIe Video, DDR2, SATA HDD

Update: Got everything I need. Thanks.

I am building a starter system for Christmas for a family that we know (they are on an extremely limited budget so I thought I could help them out). I have managed to scrounge together some parts out of my left over pile but need to complete the build. Low cost is the key.

What I have so far is a P5K-SE socket 775 motherboard, E2180, 1GB DDR2, Antec Case and 420W power supply, SATA DVD Writer, SATA 320GB, 17" screen, speakers, mouse, and keyboard.

What I need to complete the build...

PCIe video card. 8600GTS or 9400GT?

Thanks Guys (and Gals)

My System Specs

Default

I have:

Pentium D 915 Dual core 2.8GHz 2X2MB L2
Gigabyte 8600GTS 256MB Silent
2X512MB DDR2 PC4200
Hitachi 160GB SATA II drive

$100 + shipping

That stuff would even handle some gaming with a 17" monitor.

Doh! Well I picked an E2180 today locally so my shopping list is modified. See first post.

I think something like an Nvidia 8400GS or 8600GT or 9400 would be the sweet spot. And since I have 4 DIMM sockets the most cost effective would probably be 4X512MB DDR2.

I was just gonna post that bud...
MSI GeForce 8400 GS 512MB PCI-E w/ DVI, HDTV-Out, Passive Cooling at Memory Express Computers
or
Sapphire Radeon HD 4350 512MB PCI-E w/ DVI, HDMI at Memory Express Computers

Personally I would go with the ATI for desktop use... and something passive so you don't have to worry about a cheap burnt out toy fan a year or two down the road.

That board doesnt support 1 gig slots? Let me ask some friends they could probably make a frisbee out of their box of ram. Scratch that... i just noticed it was ddr2. That stuff comes in handy still.

Bump. Got almost everything now. Just need a video card. Currently using a GTX260 from another build just to get the Snow Leopard OS installed.... talk about overkill
