Default Inexpensive AM3 processor..

Hi All,

Looking to purchase a relatively inexpensive AM3 processor. I'm open to just about anything, but 955s and 965 black editions are likely way out of my price range.

Athlon II X2/X3/X4s, Phenom II X2/X3/X4 etc all fine by me.

Can't do AM2+ processors due to board limitation, so it'll have to be an AM3 model. Price will be key

Thanks!

How much are you looking for, price-range wise?

I suppose it all depends on the processor being offered

Hoping for around ~75, but a bit of flex either way.

I'd suggest a 550be, but thats around $110. 3.1ghz and can be unlocked to a quad more often than not. Even if it doesn't unlock you get the quad's full cache.
AMD Athlon II X2 250 Dual Core Processor Socket AM3 3.0GHZ 2MB Cache 60W Retail Box - DirectCanada this one's $75, and what I'd get on your budget.

Athlon II X4 620 can be found for ~$100... nice little chip.
Just built a system with one and am pretty happy so far.

Anyway, good luck.
