PM'd
and to answer your question MPG, yes i have checked out the specs on his comp, and have confirmed that he has PCI-E.
What do you mean by proprietary PSU wiring? can u elaborate.

Cheers

If the computer is an OEM (not home-built), some of them use unique wiring patterns that don't follow ATX specifications. The plug holes may look the same, but plugging in a regular PSU will fry the system. It's basically a scam to make sure you have to get replacement parts from them. For example, Dell is/was notorious for this, which is why some companies sell specific replacement units for them. You didn't mention any details about your friend's computer, so I figured it couldn't hurt to double-check.
