Trading Playstation 3 bundle for Parts, mid-range PC, or whatever

*SOLD!*
*Adding an edit in a reply*

Hey guys, I'm looking to trade my PS3 and games for a decent PC for my GF. I'm looking for something reasonable for Gaming. Nothing outstanding, but it should play WoW, Sims3, and be able to host a vent server. I only need the tower, no monitor.

Will consider cash offers as well, although I'm not not sure what to charge as this is one of the original PS3's with backwards compatibility to PS2 and PS1 games, as well as the SD card reader kit, etc.

I'm at work so I'm going to copy/paste my CL post and I'll add pics when I get home tonight:

-----
I have an original 60Gig PS3 with full hardware backwards compatibility to PS1 and PS2 games up for trade. The PS3 comes with a wireless controller, upgraded to an 80Gig HDD, HDMI cable and a full compliment of games. The Gloss on the PS3 is a worn off since I had a custom sticker on it and I can't seem to get it quite clean since taking it off, but it's only a visual thing that you don't even notice when it's in your entertainment stand. The system, however, is in perfect working order.

Games that come with the system:

PS3 Games:
Metal Gear Solid 4
Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga
Ratchet And Clank Future: Tools Of Destruction
Uncharted: Drakes Fortune

PS2 Games:
Final Fantasy XII
God Of War
God Of War 2
Jak And Daxter: The Precursor Legacy
Jak 2 (still in plastic wrap)
Jak 3
Obscure
Max Payne
Max Payne 2
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
Sly Cooper And The Thevious Raccoonus
Hitman Contracts
Hitman 2: Silent Assassin
Hitman Blood Money
Lego Star Wars 2: The Original Trilogy

PS1 Games:
Final Fantasy 8
Final Fantasy Chronicles
Chrono Trigger 1 Remake
Gran Turismo 2

ALL games are original and come complete with cases and booklets
-----

Send me a PM with offers of system with specs; or cash offers.

Thanks

You can see the smudgy look is the only thing wrong. No dings or nicks on the system, just the smudging from the bloody body sticker. And it's not sticky or anything, since I cleaned it up as best I could. I guess you could get a new body sticker for it and cover it up...

Just showing it IS one of the original PS3's with the backwards compatibility and on board card reader...

Notice the i/o panel is still glossy and clean. I've taken very good care of it...

Proving it's running. I never did set the date and time on the system... (That's the TV I bought from infiniti's post a few months back. Very nice)
*I know it's tough to make out the tag in this photo, but I'm hoping the account name on the PS3 network will prove it's my product... :bleh:

And the games...

This sounds tempting!

What do you consider decent? I ask because WoW and Sims are not resource pigs and older systems run both fine.

tempting indeed,i must resist,i must ....lol

Decent would be a dual core machine with average stats and a video card that will play current games. (8800GT/4370 and above preferrably)

I figure the package on a whole, including games, is probably worth around $450 - $550. So what could you get in a used PC for that?

Also, I'd prefer to keep the trade local, unless you're thinking about a cash offer and willing to pay the shipping.

Just as a heads up, I'd likely consider a decent combination of parts that don't quite make up a whole PC. So if you have, for example, a case, MB, processor and Vid card that equal about the right value, I'd prolly take that and then pick up the remaining parts elsewhere.

So I'm getting offers all over the board, and one's being mulled over by the g/f; but here's what I'm looking for:

My g/f needs a decent PC, and I have a good PC. I'm looking for upgrade/replacement parts for my PC so I can use the old parts as a basis for hers, OR a complete mid-range PC for her. I only need the tower, and by mid-range I mean that it should be an average dual core machine with a couple gigs of ram and a previous-gen video card (3870/8800 and up), since that's what I could get new for $500.
*note* If I don't get an offer with a decent video card in a couple days, I'll likely buy a 4850 from NCIX as they're on sale for $99

I'll also consider ca$h and parts in trade if you only have 1 or 2 parts, OR if you have parts you think I might like, but they total more than the PS3, I might add cash to the PS3 bundle for them, or pick out what I want for equal value.

On an off note, I'd also consider other electronic goodies as trade as I'm a sucker for toys... Then I'd just buy the mrs. a new PC =P

Crazy question time: does running PS2 games on a PS3 actually make them look "better"? I am seriously considering this as I have so many components lying around, my PS2 took a crap and I only have an 80GB PS3.

Caldezar June 14, 2009 02:45 PM

Depends what you mean by 'look better'. The PS3 has soft AA for PS2 and PS1 games, so the graphics are a little smoother, but the games are still only as good as they were made, so the difference is negligable.

hey, was your ps3 able to play ALL the ps2 games you had?
