Default crossfire bridge

Hi, I recently helped my friend build a new comp. And I told him to buy the two 99.99 MSI 4850 last week. He got them yesterday and to my surprise no crossfire bridge.

SO I am wondering if there is anyone in the GTA or mississauga area that would like to sell me or donate () me a single crossfire bridge. I think I only need one, I heard two doesnt really do anything. Thanks!

I was having constant crashes using 1 crossfire bridge with 2 4830's. When I put 2 on, everything worked like a dream.

Wish I could help ya out, I grabbed 2 out here in Calgary fairly cheap from MemEX

Hi guys, Thanks for all your quick comments!
Especially thanks to Cadaveca for the free offer.

I am just wondering now (I know its off topic) if one is good enough or two? Cause I am getting mix answers now.

Cheers

ATI recommends 2 for the 48xx-series gpus, but I have find little-to-no difference running both in dual "electrical" 16x pci-e lanes. P45-based boards may require both bridges, but anything lesser than a 48xx-series gpu does not need both connected.

As an aside, note tha 4850's can be "quad-fired", with both the outside top and bottom gpus being connected with only one bridge, so I'm am MORE than sure jsut one is fine.

wait, so someone running a p45 will essentially lose performance with 48xx and up cards without the second bridge? interesting...can you dig up some numbers?
