Default Want to trade Maximus Formula for P5Q PRO

Thats right, I'm looking to trade my maximus formula for your P5Q Pro. I used to own the P5Q-PRO and it was an excellent overclocker, would take any setting a threw at it.

I've been using the maximus formula for a few weeks now, and I can honestly say it is a terrible overclocker. I cannot even get my q8300 from 2.5 to 3.3. (it just wont even post half the time, or it'll say overclocking failed, or just give me a black screen)

With my P5Q-Pro I was running 3.8 - low 4's with 1.3v stable as can be.

Anyways, less ranting, more trading!

PM me if your interested in this board (obviously someone who doesnt overclock is going to want it)

Hrmmmmmmm........

Must be something wierd going on there..... have you tried different memory (or less sticks) to see if that's the difference? Did you do a full re-install of the OS when you switched over? Maybe it's the raid setup?

I suspect you've done your due diligence and researched this to the hilt, but it seems strange.

I might be interested, but I much rather see you resolve your issues than swap a $300+ motherboard for a $150+ one.

Hmm, I've tried alot of stuff, talked for along time with asus on the phone. (useless techs)

I've just been having alot of random issues, and am tired of having to spend an hour troubleshooting my entire rig every other day to get it to boot up. I'm sure its a nice motherboard, just too much hassle for me, when my p5q worked like a dream. I just threw it on ebay, so I might just use the funds to buy a new p5qpro and bank the rest of the funds.

X38 + Yorkfield = failboat. Top you'll get is ~450 FSB. Been there, done that :)
P5E-VM HDMI was one of the first boards known to be Yorkie friendly.. P5Q series is very very friendly.

Did you ever think to PM me? The Maximus Formula needs increased voltage to the NB to handle 4 sticks of ram, I was able to overclock the board just fine once I pumped some voltage into the NB with both my E8400 and my Q6600 + 8GB of Corsair, you just gotta take your time.

The Maximus Formula is more finicky when it comes to overclocks, but performs much better than other boards once you get it working. Its not a set it and forget it board, like many DFI boards, its more for people who know what there doing.

Also did you post and take advantage of the Thread on XS I pointed you too? Loads of information there on what works best for the board.

If my post sounds a bit aggressive, I apologize, I loved that board to death and really wish I didn't have to sell it. It's a great board and works really well if you know what your doing with it.

Just curious if this ever got resolved I have the same board and hope to OC sometime soon (will be my first OC so chilly if you could point me that thread that would be greatly appreciated :)

I've never overclocked before but I'm very easy on Computers so I won't go big or go home I'll start very very slow!

The 790i FTW digital is the same way, wont go above 400fsb with 4 sticks of ram in it, it cant feed enough needed voltages to run 4 sticks at high enough speeds to breach the 1600fsb mark =(
