For a folding farm - if you indeed wind up with a quad - you'd really be better off with 4GB of RAM so that you can dedicate 1GB to each of your Linux VM machines and have enough left over for Windows to run. 2GB is fine if all you have is a doolie.

Also - note that with regard to the PCIe slots, a 4x bus is enough to feed even a GTX295 at full speed for folding (heck even a 1x bus can feed anything up to and including a 9800GT at full speed). 16x is not necessary.

A4g. I have seen that mobo. I have laughed. I have cried. I have checked my bank statement. I have cried some more. Me wants me wants me wants. That + 6 GTX285's + 6 single-slot waterblocks = 60,000 PPD in one box. New pants needed.

haha i know DT!
That board is just crazy.

When are the ATI's going to fold better :(

But that board would cost an arm and a leg due to it being i7.

That board is Folding Heaven... but out of my league. I just want to come back into Folding, with a small "farm" - simply run SMP twice, and have dual 9800GTs. No Vmware Linux instances this time - I've had my share 2 years ago with 4 rigs at once... I want this one to be a Fire-and-Forget rig...

ROFL

Give me a few more months, and I'll probably sell all again to start anew...!

As for you two - DT and A4G - when will you guys start folding for the right Team?

Still looking for a board, P5Q-Pro seems about right.

I don't suppose an EVGA 680i would meet your requirements would it?

And i was told that folding only requires 4x slots or higher.

I'm staying far, far away from the nVidia chipset.

After doing some homework, you are quite correct regarding the PCI-E slots.

That's why I want to get rid of it.

EDIT: Although... in a way I want to pick up another 9800GX2 and fire it in there and fold.
