Default System upgrade components

Currently using a single core 3500+ Venice with a Gigabyte GA-K8NS Ultra 939, 2 x 1024 OCZ EL Platinum PC3200 DDR400 and a Visiontek 3850 AGP card
Looking to replace with newer components preferably along the lines of an i7 920 and 4850 x2 series card. Memory and motherboard are preferred to be name brand of course. Please let me know if you have anything that may interest me. My kids want me to upgrade cause then they get my old system.

Vancouver area for local pick up prefered

Considering i7 is still so new that very few people are buying it and that those who did probably won't be selling anytime soon may I suggest an upgrade to 775 instead as you'll have much more luck in finding that.

NCIX.com - Buy NCIX Gaming Bundle Deal EVGA 3-WAY SLI X58 Motherboard Intel Core i7 920 CPU *WITH-FREE-GAME* - eVGA-X58-i920-GAMES In Canada.

$650 for the i7 920 CPU and EVGA mobo and 3 games, which is pretty decent.

QFT, I avoid EVGA boards like the plague, however the many issues they had could also have been due to the rather awful 790I chipset. I haven't heard of any major issues with their X58 board.

That's a really good deal on NCIX for $649.99. Theres also a complete i7 system for about $1700 if your interested. NCIX.com - Buy NCIX Antec 1200 PC Bundle Deal Core i7 920 X58 6GB RAM GTX 260 1TB HDD DVD 650W PSU -ASSEMBLED - NCIXPC-V6200 In Canada.

I highly doubt you would be able to find an i7 setup used since it has only been out for a month/month and a half and anyone who invested in it and has seen the performance increase, wouldn't be wanting to downgrade back to 775. If you really want the parts used, wait until Phenom II, I'm sure some will unload their i7 stuff for the new AMD chips/boards.

Unless you want bleeding edge or do alot of CPU intensive work where speed really matters, you would be fine with a 775 setup. It will be much cheaper as well. For an i7 build, I would expect to pay at least $800, for a CPU, Board, RAM (6gb) and a cooler to slap on the baby so you can OC it.

No, you want to avoid NVIDIA chipsets. This is an Intel chipset, and it is an excellent motherboard.

No, I want to avoid EVGA since they offered HORRIBLE support for the NF590 board and they screwed me on 2 step ups by claiming full retail value and getting me charged $50+ in customs fees that they would not get back for me nor would Canadapost refund them. I do not like EVGA at all and their customer service is even more over rated than their warranty which is also very over rated.

Noone can build a board like ASUS, noone.
