Default FS/FT: 8GB 800MHz FB-DIMMs for cheap; 6GB Mushkin DDR3-1600; HD4850

Updated February 2nd, 2009

ON HOLD
4x 2GB (8GB) FB-DIMM DDR2-800: $199 you won't find anything priced like this (8GB total; CAS 5) [retail: $??? can't find them, but other FB800s are about $252+tax]

1x VisionTek ATI Radeon HD4850: $165 [retail: $186+tax]

3
x 2GB (6GB) Mushkin XP3-12800 998681
: $235
(6GB total; DDR3-1600; 8-8-8-24)

I ran those FB-DIMMs at CAS 4, even though they are only rated for CAS 5. Quad-channel, baby! Only selling them because I upgraded to an absurdly excessive 16GB.

Willing to trade for:
- Western Digital hard drives 750GB / 1TB / 1.5TB / 2TB
- good closed headphones (Beyerdynamic, Audio-Technica, Sennheiser, etc.)

I can't believe you're giving up so easily S_G! Where's that fighting spirit?

It's not that I'm giving up, it's just excessive. I am not folding on this system, nor am I doing enough encoding to make it worthwhile. The few hours out of the day where I am loading up a bunch of VMs and working in all sorts of apps is pretty awesome, but I think I will be fine on just 4 cores.

I know it would make a great addition to the farm though. Wink wink, nudge nudge.

Could you imagine your system paired with four 9800GX2s? 16 cores of folding goodness! It's the stuff of ultra-geeky wet dreams I tells ya! Or better yet, put two such systems in a MM Duality for a 32 core box. In the words of Keanu Reeves, "whoa."

Can you imagine the kind of power that would suck? I don't even think an average house could handle it.

Well, it'd cost a lot in electricity, but you'd never need to heat your house ever again!

PM sent WRT images. Couple of hours to get images up, and then same deal as everybody else.

Sorry, but promising to put images up a couple of days ago doesn't cut it.

Edit: PM received from member with commitment to have images up later this evening warning extended.
