Default Best Soundcard for 100 or less.

Just asking what the title suggests which soundcard for 100 or less delivers the best performance for the money? I have a 2.1 speaker system right now and I use a low-end sennheiser headset right now for gaming but I want to upgrade after I get a better sound source in my PC.

I have the Asus Xonar DX and it sounds great. So there is vote 2 for the Asus.

Xonar DX is the best choice for the $89, but you can get a Prelude for about $129... If your a heavy gamer you may want to go with the Prelude.

I just realised that I forgot to say regular PCI slot is a must because my mobo don't have one of the smaller PCI-E slots...

If your motherboard has a PCI-E slot it'll work fine.

Most motherboards now come with at least 2 PCI-E slots.

Alas my Mobo is an Asus Leonite.... some proprietary model made specifically for HP systems... I will look up the specs but I have been inside the case recently installing an 8800 ( a VERY tight fit) and though I saw regular PCI slots non of the smaller ones were there and I was kinda making a point looking for them.

I don't know the price and I can't remember where I saw it but I believe Asus has made a PCI version of the Xonar. Maybe it was here somewhere. I'll dig around.

Found a link. They aren't shipping yet and have not anounced price.
