Question How to permanently uninstall "high definition audio device"?

Hi, keep uninstalling the "high definition audio device" under device manager, but it keeps coming back and it overrides my primary sound software: ASUS Xonar Essence.

How do I permanently delete/uninstall the "high definition audio device"?

Thank you,

CG

Have you tried just disabling it as opposed to uninstalling it?

Yeah, go into the BIOS and under "Onboard Devices" or something named like that, you should be able to disable the audio.

Although if it's the NVIDIA HDMI audio device... too bad. Everytime I update my drivers I need to fix my default sound device.

That's weird though.... I'm running an Nvidia card connected via HDMI and never ran into the issue. Maybe it's because my monitor doesn't have speakers?

This is so irritating. Even if I chose not to install not install the audio drives it does this.

Actually I forgot when I posted the above, it's actually the DisplayPort audio taking over. I don't use HDMI so I typically don't install the HDMI driver.

Could be the same for the OP though if manually turning on/off a DP monitor instead of letting it sleep. It might take over as the default audio device.
