Yes, after a lot of testing with a friend yesterday I came to the same conclusion. I first bought my Astro for my Xbox back in 2012 but I’ve been using them on my pc for the past year.

I can manage to get the sound to sound "ok" in TeamSpeak but as soon as I use it in game people complain and the sound is terrible (my friend was in game with me).

Headphone and mic plugged directly in the pc works flawlessly

so here is a question:

what could I use to replace my mixamp.

I want an external volume knob (I have one on my Logitech z5500 and z2200) but i would also like to have the game/voice control the mixamp offer.

I like setting TeamSpeak as my communication device and the rest of the audio as game. That way I can control the balance between voice and pc audio

does such a device exist apart from the mixamp?

Update:

got a plantronics rig headset for the rig mixamp and i'm using it with my astro's.

this thing is great got it before futureshop closed for 30$+tx instead of 100$

the mixamp works like a charm and it has the chat/game volume that i wanted.

very happy with my purchasse
