Sound Card/Head Set Question

So I was wondering, if I install a new sound card such as a ASUS XONAR unit or something like that, and I use my Logitech G35 headset which is a USB headset, will I be hearing the sound improvement the card has to offer, or do I need to purchase a headset with connections that insert into the headphone and microphone jacks in the back of the card. The card doesn't have a USB connection on it. What kind of fidelity would I realize if I plug a G35 into a USB port on the motherboard with an upgraded audio card?

I'm 99.9% certain that a USB headset does its own audio decoding thus you will see absolutely no difference between sound cards.

Or find a card with optical out and a headset like the triton A1 I use they in battlefield with the tos link (Fiber Optic) and wow I can feel the jet engines when I pan over there. Amazing sound but I'm sure by now they made better.

No point buying a card with optical out IF your mobo has one already... digital is digital and your bypassing the DAC.

All usb headsets(as long as it's not just for power) have their own DAC therefore you will not receive any benefit from any soundcard..
It's the same as the optical out really, it's dependent on the device and not your rig.

I would suggest a set of 5.1 Headphones, (ex. Roccat Kave) with a soundcard if its being used for gaming.
