Audacity is a great program and supports most if not all vst files if memory serves. I'm sure you can find a free vst plugin that will help with the noise issues (once you've determined the best direction the mic is pointing at as it is a cardioid mic).

Create something idiot proof and they will make a better idiot.

or a poor mans noise filter make a cardboard funnel that the mic is below edge of outer rim and glue terry cloth on the inside

make different sizes to focus on the area of wanted sound

do it 90 degree wrapping around mic @ grill

other is use sheets hanging from ceiling so that sound field is between sheet and mic
