Alright, so here's what I'm thinking. If I can get the refurbished, I'll go with the Z623. If not, Edifier it is.

As for the bass, I read that the Edifier's bass was weak so that was my concern. Both seem to have clear twitters so that's why my comparison was on the bass.

I also have an Auzentech X-Raider sound card and not running off onboard so hopefully regardless of unit, it won't sound bad lol.

Thanks,

I Personally think that speakers with good clarity but no bass at all suck,at least with electronic music... Rock does not need that much bass!

to me,80hz or lower would pass, for 2.0 speakers... and for 2.1,30hz or lower...

PS:Edifier bass is awesome.I heard one of their 80$ 2.1 speaker systems, forgot the name, but they did sound really good.

My vote goes to the Edifier. I was a little skeptical as they aren't that expensive but convinced a client to purchase them due to the recommendations on this board. I have to say I was blown away by what the S330D's sounded like for the price.

Ok, I caved and went with the Klipsch ProMedia 2.1 lol. I was at Canada Computers and was just blown away by the sound quality (they were playing it on an onboard and that was able to blow me away, my sound card makes it sound even cleaner).

It was on sale too for $150.

Thanks anyways guys.

Cheers,

Good choice though and glad you are happy.

Logitech speakers are complete ******.

I am looking for 2.0 or 2.1 speakers, too, but I can't spend much right now. I need to replace some memory sticks (also).

I am open to anything but Logitech garbage.

As others have said, the Edifier S330D is a good unit. I didn't get the chance to play with it but it's been pretty much universally recommended.

The Edifiers are really good units, as long as you want sound clarity. The produce a nice and clean sound stage, relative to their price. Seems like that in this price class, you need to decide between either washed out but somewhat loud bass or clear and clean sound that lacks a bit in the lower end.

I went from a logitech 2.1 system to edifier s330d's and there was a nice difference in sound quality.

It might be a good idea to cut off the bass to the speakers and when you can afford it buy a small dedicated amp/sub. Try not to get a ported unit as those aren't accurate but use the port to extend the bass, really just a nasty solution imo.
