Are the 1500's over-the-ear type? I need the kind that covers the ear completely, to block out background noise, and prevent pressure on the ear.

They are the over the ear type, and insanely comfortable. They use a type of felt on the pads, instead of leatherette, so your ears don't get too hot. Honestly, when I'm in BF3 I forget that I'm wearing them, and I can't even hear the wife (this could either be a good or a bad thing, really) yell at me.

Yes they are.. and VERY comfortable (have the hs1, it's predecessor.)
Probably the most comfortable headset I've ever worn even though they are a lil heavy you can wear them for hr after hr without any discomfort

The only slightly odd feeling with them is most of the weight (that you can actually feel, for their weight you don't really notice it) tends to press on your jaw.
Not uncomfortable in any way, just a slightly odd feeling to get used to

I would be more tempted by the 1300's though... cheaper and better sound if you have a card, bout the same depending on the on-board.
Only down side to the 1300's is they don't have the velour type cloth on the ear-cups (big mistake IMO corsair, though I haven't actually worn them for more than a few mins on 2 songs)

If you have a sound card, get the 1300's, if you don't have a sound card, get the 1500's. The 1500's have a built in sound driver that processes the signal from the computer via USB. maybe not as sophisticated as an all out sound card, but it works.
