USB Headset Vs. 3.5 jacks Headset

Howdy,
I was just into Staples today, and they had some good deals on Steelseries products.
They have the USB Diablo Siberia V2 headset for $100 (USB)
and they have the normal Siberia V2 for $90 as well (Metallic Blue, 3.5 audio & mic jack.)

Whats the main difference between the USB headset and 3.5 jack ones?
I'm not to worried about the mic quality between the two, considering I have a Blue Snowball Mic.

I think I will end up getting the Metalic Blue one, or the Black and gold ones they have there for the same price anyways.

A friend had the diablo set, the cord is SUPER short, you have to plug them in literally 2 feet or less from your head or you will not be able to move your head while gaming.

The USB Diablo uses that USB for sound. The other Siberia connects directly to your sound card,or on board sound card. You will get a much better sound using a regular sound card,as opposed to USB.
