Need help choosing a soundcard

I would like to buy a sound card but I don't know which one to choose from there's so many. I decided between Asus and Creative my thought are they must be the higher end cards. I want this sound card for music, movie's, and gaming. I was told the Asus Xonar DX 7.1 sound card is great for that but I'm not completely sure I read the review on this site about it and they had some problems with it in gaming so I am a bit iffy about it. So in the end I am back to not knowing which card to choose from and I need your help to decide.

I had a Xonar DX. It's a good card for the price. I had 0 issues while gaming. The only reason I moved to an X-fi Forte was that the Forte has a dedicated headphone jack on the back and the Xonar DX doesn't.
