My System Specs

Default Sennheiser HD 555 successor?

I realize that the HD 555's are old, out of stock and no longer manufactured. What is basically the new equivalent to them now? Perhaps the HD 558's? Assuming one had both the 555's and 558's, would the later be better over all?

Thanks for the help.

I am looking to buy headphones, adn these have cought my eye. I have done some reading and it looks like there are barely any difference between the two. I also found a mod which can be done to the less expensive 558 to make them sound just like the 598. What is the difference between them? which one is more comfortable? If you, or anyone else, had an experience with them, can you please share it?

the foam behind the driver is pretty much the only difference. the driver and comfortable shape is the same.
